It should be noted that in his honor Wynton Marsalis has at least this trait: he never does things by halves: when an old friend asked to write a blues, Wynton comes with a feature film after it has composed for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (Lincoln Center band). In this case, the friend called Iñaki Anua, Festival de Jazz de Vitoria-Gasteiz, and in expanded form this suite is today a major new work that celebrates a festival in a city, and a whole culture. Vitoria Suite - Wynton thus entitled to - is a work in twelve parts whose structure is based on twelve bar blues. Marsalis uses the pulse of the blues as a foundation to jointly explore the music of two worlds, two cultures: on the one hand, jazz and blues of North America, second and flamenco music in Spain Basque native . But this result is not that American musicians who are experimenting with Spanish forms, it is also working with the greatest musicians of Spain, especially the legendary flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia, and the brilliant pianist Chano Dominguez. The fourth movement of his Suite, 'El Bulería Portalón' which is Paco and Chano evidence, demonstrates the power of multicultural collaboration.
