In 1951, the French pianist Henri Renaud was 26, and the Belgian saxophone player Bobby Jaspar, 25, just like the american guitarist Jimmy Gourley. Together they discovered the new jazz of the time by listening to records of Charlie Parker 'With Strings', Al Cohn's quartet with George Wallington, Herbie Stewart and Jimmy Raney, and Stan Getz's quartet with Al Haig... A real shock to the system! Henri Renaud got a sextet together, including Sandy Mosse from the USA and pierre Michelot and Pierre Lemarchand from Paris. In June 1951 they recorded ten sides for the Saturne label, released as a magnificent serie of LPs know as 'picture discs'. This was the first time French musicians tried their hand at modern jazz, and with what talent, what originality! The result was telling. These records quickly became a legend in themselves, but were impossible to find on the market until now, when we are reissuing them in their entirety. At a time when a whole section of French jazz was looking over its soulder at the past, Henri Renaud was living his music in the present, fifty years ago.
Featuring :
Henri Renaud (piano), Jimmy Gourley (guitar), Bobby Jaspar (saxophone), Sandy Mosse (saxophone), Pierre Lemarchand (drums), Pierre Michelot (bass)

Under the direction of Dominique Cravic,
Paris Jazz Corner Productions continued its epic work devoted to the atypical instruments. After the accordion (Gus Viseur à Bruxelles, Accordéons au Féminin), this CD is devoted to the harmonica jazz's pionneers: Toots Thielemans and the Thompson.
Tracks 1 to 14: extremely rare sessions of the Flemish harmonicist produced in Sweden and Belgium in 1950 and 1951.
Tracks 15 to 22: a concert recorded at Pasadena of obscure the Les Thompson in 1952.
The reissue of these recordings, hitherto unplubished in CD, is a true event for the chromatic instrument world because they testify to its first meetings with the jazz.
Featuring :
Toots Thielemans (harmonica), Les Thompson (harmonica),

Piano Trio.
A wonderful trio set from French pianist Maurice Vander.
Recorded in a style that gets back to some of his older modes, but in a way that still retains some of the freedoms Vander picked up in the 70s!
His work on the keys here is all acoustic, none of the electric piano he sometimes used in the previous decade but the tracks sometimes open up with looser passages, especially on some of the drum work form Charles 'Lolo' Bellonzi, who works in the trio alongside Vander's piano and the bass of Luigi Trussardi.
Track listing : du côté de chez swing - conception - two bass hit - lush life - c.t.a. - l'amour trop fort - étude 969 (ho bello solo/tune up) - boplicity.
Featuring :
Maurice Vander (piano), Charles Bellonzi (drums), Luigi Trussardi (bass),
