Reissue of the 10inch Fontana 882 101, Barclay EP 70 105 and the Fontana EP 464 451.
After singing with the orchestras of Les Hite, Jimmy Dorsey and Cab Calloway, June had a comfortable hit in 1942 with'47 th Street jive' and 'Hey Lawdy Mama', which she'd recorded with Andy Kirk's band. In 1948 she landed in Europe; she appeared for a time at the 'Casino de Paris', where her opulent silhouette, vivacity and singing talent were major attractions in the Revue; her recordings of 'Between the devil and the deep blue sea' and 'i've got a right to sing the blues' are quite simply breathtaking.
